The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

237 x 160 cm.).

The painting has been subject to a firm, historic, relining, which has correspondingly slightly flattened the paint surface. The lining is composed of two canvases whose seam is visible. We can see at least 8 pieces of additional canvas covering historic accidents on both these lining canvases. We can also discern another vertical seam in the middle of the original canvas.
Some discoloured retouching in the background is visible under natural light. We can also see some scratches over the varnish in the top right corner, as well as retouching along the canvas edge, likely intended to cover paint loss due to frame abrasion. Some overpainting is visible in the flesh tones in the lower left corner as well in the darker areas in the background, which likely suffered during the relining. Overall the flesh tones and faces are in a good state of conservation.
The afore mentioned restorations can be seen under UV light, as well as some retouching in the whites. The picture is under a historic varnish which has been partially cleaned in the light areas, such as the faces.
It is in a wooden, painted and lacquered frame, which is modern (approx. 237 x 160 cm.).
