The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

A l’œil nu, le tableau se présente dans un assez bon état de conservation. Il a fait l’objet d’un rentoilage ancien. La toile ovale d’origine a été mise au rectangle. Les quatre coins de la composition on été rajoutés. On constate une déchirure au-dessus de l’épaule gauche du modèle (environ 17 cm.), au-dessus du buste (environs 7 cm.), quelques restaurations sur l’œil droit du buste, et une au niveau du pouce du modèle. On constate quelques manques au niveau de l’œil gauche du modèle et à droite du buste. A la lampe UV on constate des restaurations autours des déchirures déjà mentionnées, et des repeints au niveau du coude du modèle et dans la partie inférieure gauche. Le tableau est sous un vernis vert uniforme.

In natural light the painting is in a fairly good condition. It has been relined. The relining probably dates to the first part of the XXth century. The painting was ovale and has been adapted to a rectangle. The four edges of the composition have been added after its conception. We can see a tear above the proper left shoulder of the sitter (approx. 17 cm. long) and above her chest (approx. 7 cm. long), some scattered restorations on the proper right eye and around the thumb. We can see minor chips around the proper left eye of the sitter and right to her chest. Examination under UV lighting shows some restorations around the afore mentioned tear and some restoration around the elbow and in the lower left part.
Painting is covered in a regular coat of varnish.
