Louis Phélypeaux, seigneur de La Vrillière et marquis de Châteauneuf et de Tanlay (1599-1681), fut un important conseiller de Louis XIII et secrétaire d'Etat. Réputé pour ses collections qu'il présenta dans son hôtel parisien, actuelle Banque de France, il fit réaliser par Domenico Guidi son tombeau sur ses terres de Châteauneuf-sur-Loire (Loiret). L'église Saint-Martial renferme toujours sont tombeau de marbre où il est représenté genou droit à terre, la main gauche sur le coeur et accompagné d'un ange. Domenico Guidi (1625-1701) est représentatif du baroque italien. Influencé par Naples où il vécut, il travailla notamment pour L'Algarde et fut membre de l'Accademia di San Luca. Son atelier produisit pour l'Europe entière dont cet important monument pour Louis Ier de La Vrillière.


Louis Phélypeaux, seigneur de La Vrillière and marquis de Châteauneuf et de Tanlay (1599-1681), was an important adviser to King Louis XIII and Secretary. Renowned for his collections, which he displayed in his Parisian hôtel, now the Banque de France, he had his tomb made by Domenico Guidi on his lands in Châteauneuf-sur-Loire (Loiret). The church of Saint Martial still contains his marble monument where he is represented on his right knee on the ground, with his left hand on his heart and accompanied by an angel. Domenico Guidi (1625-1701) is representative of the Italian Baroque. Influenced by Naples where he lived, he worked for Algardi and was a member of the Accademia di San Luca. His workshop produced sculptures for Europe, including this important monument for Louis I de La Vrillière.
