MICHEL BOUILLON, STILL LIFE WITH FLOWERS, FRUITS AND VEGETABLES, WITH THE DRUNKENNESS OF BACCHUS IN THE CENTRE, OIL ON CANVAS, LOSSES, SIGNED

Michel Bouillon (?-after 1670) was admitted to the St Luke's Guild in Tournai in 1638, and in 1670 he took part in the decorations for the solemn entry of King Louis XIV into the same town. A painter of flowers, fruit and still lifes with game, the flowery cartouches combining flowers, fruit and vegetables in the present painting have a certain archaism and testify to his attachment to the Flemish tradition.

Lot Essay
