Le tableau a fait l'objet d'un rentoilage. Le support est stable.

A l'oeil nu, on constate que le tableau a perdu quelques glacis dans les feuillages et dans les bruns. On constate des retouches dans l'eau et autour des lavandières ayant légèrement viré. Le moulin préserve cependant un joli modelé par endroits.

A l'UV, on constate une retouche récent à gauche de l'enfant, au centre de la composition, et on devine d'anciennes restaurations dans les nuages. Une partie de l'architecture du pont et du moulin a été rechargée anciennement. Le tableau est sous un vernis vert uniforme.

Dans un cadre en bois et stuc dorés (approx. 46 x 55 cm.).

The canvas has been subject to relining; it is held under tension and remains stable.

The painting presents well in natural light, with the painterly approach to composition well preserved, notably in the watermill. There has been some loss to the upper glazes in the foliage and the browns, likely a result of the relining process. There is some scattered retouching in the water and around the washerwomen that has somewhat discoloured over time.

Examination under UV light reveals a recent restoration to the left of the child in the centre of the composition. There is some older retouching in the sky and some evidence of older strengthening in the bridge and mill. The varnish is even. The paint remains stable.
