Le tableau a fait l'objet d'un rentoilage un peu sec qui a pu tasser la matière picturale. Le support est stable.

A l'oeil nu, on constate des retouches dans le fond, au niveau de l'alcôve, dans les feuilles vert foncé et dans les gris de l'entablement. Certaines retouches sur l'entablement, principalement près du nid, ont viré. Le vase et certaines fleurs préservent une belle vibration.

A l'UV, on constate des restaurations récentes dans certaines feuilles ainsi que près du nid comme précédemment mentionné. Le tableau est sous un vernis vert épais partiellement nettoyé dans certains endroits : l'alcôve, les fleurs de la partie supérieure de la composition, l'escargot, certaines parties du vase, etc.

The canvas has been subject to relining; it is held under tension and remains stable. The relining process has affected the paint surface in areas.

The painting presents well in natural light with detailing and depth of colour in the flowers and vase well preserved. There is evidence of some retouching in the stone and shadows of the alcove and in the dark green of the leaves. Some of these have discoloured with time, notably near the nest.

Examination under UV light confirms the above and further reveals some more recent restoration to some of the leaves The varnish has been partially cleaned. The paint remains stable.
