Le tableau est peint sur un panneau de chêne parqueté à pans coupés. Le support est stable.

A l'oeil nu, le tableau a préservé un joli modelé dans les détails des chevelures et des drapés, ainsi que dans les éléments de nature morte.

A la lumière rasante, on constate quelques retouches dans le manteau de la robe bleue de la Vierge ainsi que des restaurations liées à la jointure verticale du panneau qui passe au centre de la composition.

A l'UV, on constate des fentes verticales au panneau avec des restaurations ponctuelles associées, surtout dans la partie inférieur de la composition, dans les drapés rouges. On constate aussi des retouches ponctuelles dans les carnations ainsi que dans le ciel. Sous un vernis épais jaune uniforme.

La matière reste stable.

Dans un cadre en bois mouluré peint (approx. 72 x 58 cm.).

The painting is executed on panel, this has been cradled. The upper corners of the panel have been cut, as visible in the photograph displayed. The panel remains stable.

The painting presents well in natural light, with the details of the composition well preserved, notably in the hair and the drapery of the central figure and in the still life elements. In a raking light some retouching in the Virgin’s blue dress can be seen. There is some restoration that runs the length of the vertical panel join in the centre of the composition.

Examination under UV light confirms the above observations. There is further restoration to a number of small panel cracks in the lower portion of the composition notably in the red drapery, likely linked with the cradling process. There are some further scattered retouchings in the flesh tones and the sky. The varnish is even but has yellowed. The paint remains stable.
