139 x 185 cm.) - éclats au cadre.
English
The canvas has been subject to relining; it is held under tension and remains stable. The stretcher has wooden keys to the corners, reinforcing the tension. There is a horizontal canvas seam approximately 10 cm. from the upper edge of the painting.
As a result of the relining, there has been some flattening to the paint surface, notably in the background. In natural light some scattered retouching can be seen in the flesh tones, drapery and background. The varnish is slightly uneven and carries some dirt.
Examination under UV light confirms these observations. It further reveals some retouching in the figure to the right, the figure with the headdress and Pharaoh's daughter in both flesh tones and drapery. There is scattered retouching in the background and restoration associated with the canvas seam. There is some more extensive restoration in the area between the Pharaoh's daughter and the figure in blue. Parts of the architecture have been strengthened. There is some retouching to the edges of the canvas due to light frame abraison. The varnish is even.
In a 19th century frame (approx. 139 x 185 cm.), there are some small chips to the frame.
