In 1847, a work entitled the Vie de Mlle Pauline de Saint André de La Laurencie de Villeneuve, de Saint-Jean-d'Angély by Abbé Joseph Briand (c. 1795-18?) was published.
This recounted the life of Pauline de Saint André de La Laurencie, born in 1804, who entered the Sacré-Coeur of Bordeaux in 1834 under the name of Sister Elisabeth. The story of this woman, who was overwhelmed by intense devotion from an early age, suited the religious sentiment of the period and was the source of various works, such as that by Abbé Briand and one written thirty years later by Monsignor Baunard (1828-1919) (Mgr. Louis Baunard, Histoire de Madame Barat, Paris, 1876, p.121). It would be tempting to see in our painting bearing the inscription "La Laurencie", the entry into the convent of this young woman driven by a feeling that seems stronger than the ties that bind her to the two women held in the doorway, perhaps her sisters, Sophie and Adèle.

En 1847 paraît un ouvrage intitulé Vie de Mlle Pauline de Saint André de La Laurencie de Villeneuve, de Saint-Jean-d'Angély par l’abbé Joseph Briand (vers 1795-18?).
Cet ouvrage relate la vie de Pauline de Saint André de La Laurencie, née en 1804, entrée en 1834 au Sacré-Cœur de Bordeaux sous le nom de sœur Elisabeth. L’histoire de cette femme envahie très tôt par une intense dévotion convenait au sentiment religieux de la période et fut la source de différents ouvrages, celui de l’abbé Briand cité plus haut, ou encore celui écrit trente ans plus tard par monseigneur Baunard (1828-1919) (Mgr. Louis Baunard, Histoire de Madame Barat, Paris, 1876, p. 121). Il serait tentant de voir dans notre peinture portant l’inscription "La Laurencie", l’entrée au couvent de cette jeune femme poussée par un sentiment qui paraît plus fort que les liens qui l’unissent aux deux femmes retenues dans l’entrebâillement de la porte, peut-être les sœurs de Pauline de La Laurencie, Sophie et Adèle.
