Le tableau est peint sur sa toile d'origine. Il est sur son châssis d'origine.

A l'oeil nu, on constate que le tableau est encrassé : des salissures sont visibles dans les cheveux, les mains. Le tableau est sous un vernis jauni. On constate des petits manques dus à des soulèvements de craquelures.

A l'UV, on constate des restaurations ponctuelles récentes autour des cheveux du personnage, dans les fonds. Le tableau est sous un vernis épais dissimulant d'anciennes campagnes de restauration, avec des traces de vernis plus ancien sur le costume du personnage.

Dans un cadre en bois et stuc dorés (approx. 89 x 77 cm.).

The canvas is unlined and on its original stretcher. It is held under tension and remains stable.

In natural light there are some very minor scattered losses associated with a network of craquelure. The varnish has yellowed and carries some dirt. This would benefit from a light clean.

Examination under UV light reveals some recent minor scattered retouching around the sitter’s hair and in the background. The thickness of the varnish prevents a more in depth examination. There are also some traces of the old varnish on the sitter’s jacket. The paint remains stable.

In a carved giltwood and gilt stucco frame (approx. 89 x 77 cm.).
