The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Le tableau a fait l'objet d'un rentoilage assez fort qui a pu aplatir la matière par endroits.

A l'oeil nu, les détails de la composition restent appréciables. Les couches de matière supérieures ont disparu par endroits dans les fonds et le feuillage. A centre du tableau, au niveau du bord supérieur, on constate une zone de restauration et de stabilisation liées, ainsi que des retouches ponctuelles le long des bords du tableau.

A l'UV, on constate les observations susmentionnées ainsi qu'une zone de restauration en-dessous du museau du lièvre ainsi que dans la cage à droite.

Dans un cadre en bois et stuc dorés (approx. 114 x 137 cm.).

The canvas has been subject to wax relining; it is held under tension and remains stable. The relining process has flattened the painted surface in areas.

The painting presents well in natural light, with the details of the composition well preserved. There has been a slight thinning to the upper paint glazes in the background and the leaves. There is a zone of restoration and stabilisation to the centre of the upper edge. There is further retouching along the edges of the canvas.

Examination under UV light confirms the above, and further reveals an area of restoration beneath the muzzle of the hare and in the cage to the right. The paint remains stable.
