Le tableau se présente dans un bon état de conservation général. Il est couvert d'un vernis uniforme légèrement sale. Il a fait l'objet d'un rentoilage ancien un peu fort qui a tassé la surface picturale.

A l'oeil nu, aucun repeint apparent. On remarque néanmoins quelques zones d'usure dans les fonds.

A la lampe UV, on distingue des anciennes retouches ponctuelles dispersées dans les fonds et sur la chevelure de l'enfant. Son visage est très bien préservé.

Le tableau est dans un cadre en bois et stuc dorés, ovale (approx. 79 x 72 cm.).

The painting is in a good overall condition. It has been relined a few decades ago which has slightly flattened the pictorial surface.

In natural light, no restorations are immediately evident. There are some traces of wear in the background. The painting is covered in a uniform coat of yellow varnish.

Under UV lighting, we can see minor scattered retouches in the background and in the hair of the young boy. The face is nicely preserved.

The painting is in a giltwood and gilt stucco frame, oval (approx. 79 x 72 cm.).
