The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Le tableau, fragmentaire, est exécuté sur un panneau composé de trois planches jointes verticalement. Le panneau est préparé au moyen d’une toile badigeonnée de plâtre, sur laquelle est appliquée la couche de préparation.
Le panneau est renforcé par deux planches de bois verticales recouvrant le panneau sur son revers le long des bords inférieur et supérieure. Le panneau ne présente pas de courbure particulière.

A l’œil nu, le tableau a préservé de jolis détails dans les éléments d’ornementation et dans les ailes de l’ange de gauche.

On constate que la partie supérieure du tableau a été recouverte d’un fond noir, réduisant la composition peinte à un format cintré dans sa partie supérieure.
On constate d’anciennes fentes ayant été restaurées à l’emplacement des jointures de planches susmentionnées. Celles-ci sont aujourd’hui fragilisées et mériteraient d’être stabilisées. On constate d’anciennes restaurations associées à ces fentes ayant viré dans les visages des anges.
Le tableau présente un réseau de craquelures davantage visible dans les tons clairs (visages et mains) dont les comblements associés ont légèrement viré. On constate également d’anciennes griffures dans les visages des anges dont les restaurations ont aussi viré.
On constate des petits manques, ponctuels, laissant apparaître la préparation blanche, ainsi que des traces d’abrasion le long des quatre bords. Ceux-ci sont probablement associés aux frottements du cadre.

A la lumière rasante, une auréole en relief, recouverte de peinture noire, est visible dans le coin supérieur droit de la composition.

A l’UV, le tableau apparaît sous un vernis épais qui empêche un examen plus approfondi à l’UV et dès lors de constater les restaurations plus anciennes, que l’on devine à la lumière naturelle (entre autres dans les drapés).

The fragmentary painting is executed on a panel made up of three boards joined vertically. The panel is prepared using a canvas brushed with plaster, to which the preparatory layer is applied.
The panel is reinforced with two vertical wooden planks that cover the back of the panel along the top and bottom edges. The panel has no particular curvature.

In natural light, the painting has preserved fine details in the ornamentation and in the wings of the angel on the left.
The upper part of the painting has been covered with a black background, reducing the painted composition to a curved format at the top.
There are old cracks that have been restored in the joints of the boards mentioned above. These are now fragile and need to be stabilised. Old restorations associated with these cracks have discoloured in the angels' faces.The painting has a network of craquelures that are most visible in the lighter tones (faces and hands), where the associated fillings have discoloured slightly. There are also old scratches in the angels' faces, whose restorations have also faded.
There are small pinpoint cracks, revealing the white preparation, as well as traces of abrasion along the four edges. These are probably associated with rubbing of the frame.

Under low-angled light, a halo in relief, covered in black paint, is visible in the upper right-hand corner of the composition.

Under UV light, the painting appears to be covered in a thick varnish that prevents closer examination under UV light and therefore makes it impossible to see the older restorations that can be seen under natural light (in the drapery, for example).
