After Moll, circa 1770
the globe made up of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores and two polar calottes, graduated equator and ecliptic, cartouche A Correct GLOBE with the new Discoveries, New Holland with Diemen's land as a peninsula, the 1760 route of Captain Cook shown, trade winds marked, in original fishskin case with interior celestial gores, cartouche A Correct Globe with ye New Constellations of Dr Halley &c., the constellations depicted by mythical beasts and figures with stars to six orders of magnitude.

Lot Essay



Dekker identifies this anonymous pocket globe as being identical to that of Herman Moll (fl. 1678-1732) of 1719, aside from minor alterations to the text of each of the two cartouches, route of Captain Cook among others.
