The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Brush and India ink and pencil on cream-coloured laid paper. Hinged to the mount in two places at the reverse sheet edges. Watermarked ‘INGRES D’ARCHES’. The upper and lower sheet edges are deckled. One or two foxmarks mainly visible on the reverse. One or two nicks at the lower sheet edge. Some very short and soft creases at the tip of the lower left corner. The ink is very strong and fresh throughout. Subject to the foregoing, it is in our opinion that this work appears to be in generally good condition.

Encre de Chine et graphite sur papier vergé crème. Le revers de la feuille est maintenu au montage à deux endroits le long de l’extrémité du bord supérieur. Filigrané ‘INGRES D’ARCHES’. Les bords supérieur et inférieur sont non-ébarbés. Une ou deux piqûres principalement visibles au revers. Une ou deux encoches sur le bord inférieur de la feuille. Quelques très petites et légères froissures à l’extrémité du coin inférieur gauche. L’encre est vive et fraîche sur l’ensemble de la composition. Sous réserve de ce qui précède et selon notre opinion, cette œuvre apparaît en bonne condition générale.
