Lot Essay

“Brad is like nobody else I've ever worked with. He is all about the event and the idea. We shot this in the Redwood forests of northern California. We drove through the Valley of the Giants, me lying on top of a van and him riding alongside. This was about as stripped down an experience as you can get. There was nothing fancy, we were just shooting in natural light, but there was this one image of him busting right past me that looked so cinematic. That's the key to making this type of picture work. It's all about the location and the involvement of the actor and how they're going to create a compelling character. Brad knows how to find that moment without a big discussion about it.”
