John Ryder (1917–2001), English typographer and book designer, worked for the Bodley Head press during its heyday of printing children’s literature. This included producing English editions of Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are and In the Night Kitchen. Ryder celebrated his 70th birthday on 6 October 1987.
