His nose restored. There is a 2 cm. long section of chipping to edge of his cloak above his left shoulder and a further small area of chipping to edge of cloak at his left hip. The bottom of his cloak with areas of shallow chipping and flaking to enamels, overpainted. Further patches of overpainting concealing flaking to the central back fold of his cloak and to the edge at his right side. Small shallow 1 cm. area of circular chipping to edge of cloak towards bottom. Corner of cloak by his right arm restored, and a further section of restoration extending from his arm to neck along edge of cloak. His right arm restored, probably a replacement. Scroll in his right hand restored and regilt, also possibly a replacement. Restoration to folds of his skirt. Base broken through corner and restored.
Wear overall to gilding and enamels, some flaking and occasional small surface abrasion or chip throughout.
An XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) test was carried out by The Centre for Archaeological and Forensic Analysis at Cranfield University, confirming that the enamels on this object are consistent with the published data for enamels on other Meissen porcelain dating from the 19th Century.
