The group is recorded in Kändler's Taxa for 1740-41: 'Groupgen von 2 Figuren, bestehend, so einander umarmen, das Frauenzimmer aber hält in der lincken Hand einen Vogelgebauer' (group made up of 2 figures, embracing each other, the woman however holding a birdcage in her left arm).
An example of this model was sold at Bonhams London, Rosa Alba Collection, 6 July 2021, lot 33. Further examples are in the Porcelain Collections, Dresden (illustrated in R. Jansen (ed.), Commedia dell'Arte Fest der Komödianten, 2001, no. 18), the Victoria and Albert Museum, London (C.981-1919) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (64.101.102), amongst others. Another example with the addition of a pug at the couple's feet is in the Gardiner Museum, Toronto (G83.1.938).
