This group is recorded in Kändler's Taxa of 1765 and may have been inspired by Molière's comedy 'Le Docteur Amoureux'. There is a similar group illustrated in the Catalogue of the Collection of Dresden Porcelain, formed by S.B. Joel, Esq., to Gt. Stanhope Street, London, W., Vol. II, circa 1900 or later, compiled by Frank Partridge, pp. 127-128.

The lady's yellow hair ribbon broken and restored. Her torso and shoulders covered in clear lacquer and trailing headdress broken and restored - presumably broken through upper body too and restored. Clear lacquer extending to front of skirt. Further restoration and clear lacquer to her black cape. A few pearls lacking from the string at the front of her bodice. Both arms and hands broken and restored. The cavalier broken through both hands and restored and through legs and breeches and purple drape and restored. Further restoration to both shoes. Figure with arrow broken through her neck, right hand, wrist and arrow and restored. Her left thumb restored and little finger chipped. Restoration to her left cuff, arrow quiver and to the heel of her right shoe. Cupid broken through neck and restored. Some restoration to hat brim. Further clear lacquer concealing restorations to his wings, ermine cape, right arm and hand. Small patches of overpainting to his turquoise cape and occasional tiny flake. Clear lacquer to the top of the table and to books and vases on table.The arrow quiver at his feet with restoration and regilding to gilt scroll. Chipping, losses and restorations to applied leaves and flowers. Some wear and occasional tiny flake to gilding and enamels. Footrim ground. Some tiny firing flaws, surface abrasions or minute chips throughout.
