The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The bowl of cherries restored. The lady with her right thumb and left toes broken and restored. Harlequin with restoration to yellow bow on his right shoe. Further restoration to his left fingers, to his right little finger and to the slapstick. Lower half of slapstick possibly a replacement. Slight restoration and possibly regilding to his hat brim, concealing slight chipping. Tree broken through and restored with clear lacquer covering the whole trunk. The parrot broken through neck and wings and restored. Chipping, restoration and small losses to applied leaves and flowers. The base with a few small firing cracks and minute chipping, occasional surface abrasion, very minor wear throughout.
An XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) test was carried out by The Centre for Archaeological and Forensic Analysis at Cranfield University, confirming that the enamels on this object are consistent with the published data for enamels on other Meissen porcelain dating from the 19th Century.
