The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
She with restoration to brim of her hat, and to edge of red hat bow, and to black bow at her left wrist. Small area of chipping to edge of turquoise bow at her right elbow. He with restoration to his left (red) sleeve and bottom corner of coat, small chip to edge of snuffbox cover. There are a few shallow chips to the underside of the base and a few short firing cracks. Slight wear to enamels and gilding, some chipping, losses and restoration to applied flowers and foliage. Occasional minor surface abrasion or tiny chip throughout.
An XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) test was carried out by The Centre for Archaeological and Forensic Analysis at Cranfield University, confirming that the enamels on this object are consistent with the published data for enamels on other Meissen porcelain dating from the 19th century.
