This group may have been inspired by the engraving 'Le baiser donné' by Pierre Filloeul, after the painting by Jean-Baptiste Pater, or by François Boucher's 'L'Ecole des Maris'. The group is not mentioned in Kändler's Taxa but is referred to as the 'Spanier Gropgen' in overtime records for January 1740, see R. Rückert, 'Zur Staffierung der Gesichter von Meißener Porzellanfiguren', Part IV, Keramos, 153, July 1996, p. 156.
See the example formerly in the von Pannwitz Collection, illustrated by Erika Pauls-Eisenbeiss, German Porcelain of the 18th Century, London, 1972, Vol. I, pp. 202-203, and another example in the Gardiner Museum, Toronto (G83.1.912). An example of this model sold Bonhams London, The Marouf Collection, 5 December 2012, lot 65, another sold Christie's London, La Marche Comique, Porcelain from the Patricia Hart Collection, 5 July 2012, lot 16 and another at Bonhams London, 7 July 2022, lot 44.
