The model is after a 1747 engraving by Louis Surugue 'Les amusements de la vie privée', after the painting by Chardin of 1746. An example of this group is held in the Ansbach Residence, see R. Rückert, Meissener Porzellan 1710-1810, Munich, 1966, no. 1024.

The back of the chair with restoration to one side at the top and to the other side at the upright backrest support. There is a small overpainted shallow chip to the corner of the puce cushion. Tiny chip to corner of table, restoration to spinning wheel and spindle. Very slight chipping to her left toes. Small area of restoration to the back of the base, with further spray covering about half of the underside of the base. There is a spreading stained crack to the underside and interior of the figure, not visible to the exterior. Some chipping, losses and restorations to applied leaves, slight wear to gilding and enamels, occasional tiny flake, chip or surface abrasion throughout.
An XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) test was carried out by The Centre for Archaeological and Forensic Analysis at Cranfield University, confirming that the enamels on this object are consistent with the published data for enamels on other Meissen porcelain dating from the first half of the 18th century.
