The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Overall this box appears to be in good condition, within only minor faults to the porcelain, although the mount has oxidisation in places and it does not quite close properly. There is a minute firing fault to the instrument of the figure on the cover. There is a very slight hairline crack from the edge of the cover at 5 o’clock. On the left-hand side of the box (on the steep curve ‘corner’ part) there are a few black firing faults just below the mount – these are very minor and date from the time of manufacture. There is some very slight wear to the gilt interior.
