Details
This complete slice is impeccably prepared and polished on both sides, with one side etched to show the beautiful Widmänstatten pattern of the iron metal. Further compounding the beauty of this slice are the superb translucent olivine crystals that give this piece the appearance of stained glass. Modern cutting.

The Admire meteorite was found in Lyon County Kansas in 1881 by farmers plowing their fields. Many additional pieces were found over the years. The main strewn field was mapped and searched extensively since 2009 and many hundreds of kilograms have been found. Some of this material was destroyed in attempts to remove the large peridot crystals for jewelry. Admire is known for its large and often gem-quality olivine crystals known as peridot, which is the August birthstone. This visually stunning slice pleasantly displays large elongated gemmy olivine clusters set in a nickel-rich iron metal, a highly desirable trait that has been found in only one piece of the Admire meteorite. Slices from the same stone that gave this exact specimen are exhibited in museums around the world.
