The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The canvas has a wax lining and is secure on its stretcher. Some abrasions and associated losses are visible at the extreme edges. A repaired loss is visible in natural light along the edge of the painting at upper left. A second repaired damage measuring less than an inch is visible in the curtains at upper center. Inspection under ultraviolet light confirms these restorations and reveals some pinpoint retouching to losses along the craquelure. The painting presents well overall and can be hung in its current state.
