The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The canvas has an old wax lining. The surface is slightly dirty overall. Abrasions and associated repairs are visible at the extreme edges. A broad area of restoration is visible below the window at center. Restorations are also visible scattered in the floor tiles, the largest of which measure 1.5 by 2 inches. Restorations to the opened arched doorway are visible in strong raking light. A restored tear is visible in the hood of the oven, measuring approximately 7 inches horizontally. Inspection under ultra violet light reveals a broad campaign of restorations to the architecture at left, to the central oven, and to the architecture beyond the archway. Further restorations were detected in the figures' clothing. The painting can be hung in its present state.
