TURKISH DECORATIVE ARTS – Group of 17 works on Turkish decorative arts. 20th–21st centuries.

From the working library of MAC II, a collection of publications on Turkish decorative arts. Turkey and the artistry that inhabits it were central to Mica and Ahmet Ertegun’s tastes and personal styles, and a direct influence on the output of MAC II. The Ertegun’s own home in Bodrum was a testament to this, having acquired it in the 1970s in a delipidated state and transforming it with the principles that Mrs Ertegun applied to professional work. This renovation was the subject of an article for the July 1978 issue of the Turkish design magazine dekoraysion EV, an original copy of which is included in this group. And of course the interiors and architecture of Topkapı Palace, featured significantly throughout MAC II’s reference library, provided endless inspiration in its majesty and timelessness.
