Lot Essay

Laura Andreson is widely credited with reviving the art of ceramic-making in America in the mid-20th century. Initially working in low-fired earthenware with bright glazes, in 1948 she started using stoneware and then in 1957 she started to work in porcelain; incorporating Scandinavian influences, Japanese ceramic colours and Persian reduction firing techniques.
