Lot Essay

Otto Natzler is particularly recognised for his innovations in glazes - conducting thousands of experiments resulting in over 2000 glazes of various colours and textures. Collaborating with his wife Gertrud for over thirty years, he would glaze the pots she threw. However following the death of his wife in 1971 he turned to creating his own ceramics, building pieces using slab construction techniques as in the lot offered here.
