Lot Essay

Born in New York in 1889, Preston Dickinson worked at an architecture firm before enrolling at the Art Students League, where he studied for four years. Following his training, he traveled to France, exhibiting at the salons. He spent much of his career working in New York and eventually settled in Spain in 1930. His works are in numerous notable institutions, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, D.C., and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
