The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Oil on canvas, lined. When viewed in raking light there are some fine lines of paint cracking and lifting in some areas of the painting, predominantly in the thicker impastoed areas, and to the lower left and in the jug lower right. Some cosmetic retouching to small losses in areas to the lower left corner, left extreme edge and some scattered spots in various places. Examined under ultra-violet light there are some small areas of fluorescence to the lower left edge of the picture and at several places along the left edge. Some spots of fluorescence to the left, right and in the bottle. Some fine lines of fluorescence in the jug, and further spots of fluorescence in the lower part of the composition, to the upper right and lower centre edges of the canvas, in the bowl and in the background areas behind the bowl. These correspond to the aforementioned losses and retouchings.
