Lot Essay
Hugh Kenner (1923-2003) was a north American literary scholar, critic and professor, best known for his work on modernist literature. His book The Pound Era, (1971), was responsible for enshrining Ezra Pound’s reputation as one of the greatest Modernists. He also wrote Wyndham Lewis (1954).

Pencil. Not examined out of the frame. The sheet is float mounted and appears to be laid down at the edges to a supporting sheet. On close inspection there is an artist's pinhole in the upper left, upper right, and lower right corners. On close inspection the upper left and lower edges are slightly deckled. There is some soft creasing and some small spots of surface dirt in scattered areas. Subject to the above the work appears to be in good overall condition.
