Lot Essay

Gesamtkunstwerk, the german word for a "total work of art", was the ultimate goal for Hector Guimard. He approached all of his commissions with an meticulous focus to even the most minute details. The present lot is a brilliant example of Guimard's close attention to detail as even a small bell cover still beautifully exemplifies his wondrous Art Nouveau style.
