Lot Essay

In 1899, Gallé created this vase in a number of examples for the turn of the century, each bearing the phrase Bonheur, Bon An, Bon Siècle which translates to "Good Luck, Good Year, Good Century."

Another example of this model can be found in the collection of the Glasmuseum Hentrich, Düsseldorf (Inv. No. P. 1970-212).
