Lot Essay

Louis Majorelle followed in his father's - Auguste Majorelle's - footsteps and created a number of ceramic designs. As Majorelle did not possess the ovens or means to produce his earthenware and stoneware creations, he collaborated with the Lunéville earthenware factory, Keller and Guérin. The present model, an inkwell in the form of an orchid, was fashionable during the early 1900s.
