Lot Essay

Soon after Paule Leleu joined her father's eponymous firm, she began to study carpet design under Ivan da Silva Bruhns. By 1936, Paule served as the sole designer for all Leleu carpets. She served as head of the Maison Leleu textile department from 1937-1973 where she designed over 500 carpets, fabrics, and wallpapers.
