The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Overall good condition commensurate with age and use. The glass presents with a brilliant iridescence; with very few minute inclusions, folds, and air bubbles inherent in the making and not visually distracting. The glass with very few faint surface scratches and light soiling concentrated to the recessed areas. Two of the border jewels with hairlines, one with an associated minute loss (less than 1⁄8 in.), only visible upon very close inspection. The base presents with a warm brown patina with green overtones. The metal with some minor surface irregularities inherent in the making and not detracting from the overall appearance of the lamp. The metal surfaces with very minor wear, light soiling concentrated to the recessed areas, and minor oxidation typical with aging of this material. The wrapped cord decoration along the bottom border of the shade with some minor areas of separation. One arm holding the shade with a hairline, stable. One adjustment knob along the side of the shade appears to be replaced at some point in the history of the piece. The arms bent and the shade presents slightly out of alignment. One area of the border of the base with minor adhesive and felt residue. The base lacking two screws, stable. The socket appears to be original.
Please note that while the lamp appears to be in working condition, Christie’s does not guarantee the functionality of the electrical components.
