The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The work is not lined. The canvas, stretcher and attachments are in generally good condition.
There is a fine layer of surface dust throughout the work. All four edges of the work are rubbed. There is a canvas dent to the lower left edge of the work. There are a few areas with paint loss of approximately 1.5cm. each in length to the white passage, respectively near the elbow of the figure and near the right shoulder, to the upper left quadrant, to the upper centre as well as to the blue passage in the lower left quadrant of the work.
There are faint craquelures throughout the surface of the work, the most prominent of which are in the upper left and upper right quadrant.
When examined under ultra-violet light, there is no indication of in-painting.
Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the present work is in generally good condition.
