The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The canvas, stretcher and attachments appear to be in generally good condition. The board is held in an historic slip frame with slightly split corners. There are nails along the edges of board and vertically through the centre of composition. There is a minor chip to the lower left corner and some rubbing with associated pinpoint paint losses to the extreme lower horizontal edge. There are some media marks to the lower left quadrant. There are some scattered minor surface abrasions. When examined under ultraviolet light, there is no evidence of any retouching. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work appears to be in generally very good condition.
