The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The canvas, stretcher and attachments appear to be in generally good condition. There is a layer of surface dust. There are protruding nails with associated fraying and losses to the canvas to the upper left and lower right corners. There are minor losses to the canvas in places near the lower horizontal edge. There are dying cracks to the thicker impasto in places in the upper right quadrant and to the impasto peak left of the centre composition. When examined under ultraviolet light, there is no evidence of any retouching. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work appears to be in generally good condition.
