The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The canvas, stretcher and attachments appear to be in generally good condition. There is tape along the turnover edges which has lifted. There is minor rubbing to the edges with associated pinpoint paint losses, the largest to the upper left vertical edge. There are some pinpoint accretions in places to the edges. There is a minor paint loss to the left of the extreme horizontal edge, and in the yellow-red passage in the lower right quadrant. There are minor drying cracks in places to the thicker yellow impasto, most visible in the upper centre of the composition. When examined under ultraviolet light, there is no evidence of any retouching. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work appears to be in generally good condition.
