Not examined out of frame. The canvas, stretcher and attachments appear to be in generally good condition. The extreme edges of the canvas are covered by the frame. There is some minor rubbing to the upper and lower horizontal edges near the left corners. There are minor abrasions with associated pinpoint paint losses near the lower left corner and to the upper right vertical edge. There are some pinpoint paint losses, faint water marks and media splashes in places to the black passages in the background. There are fine drying cracks to the black passages in the centre of the composition. When examined under ultraviolet light, there is no evidence of any retouching. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work appears to be in generally good condition.
