The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In addition to or in elaboration of the catalogue entry:
- the full sheets
- the inside front and back cover blank sheets with staining
- some soft handling creases in places on the sheets
- occasional pale pinpoint foxmarks and pale time staining along the margins and the sheet edges, some staining due to the binding showing at the left sheets' edges, occasional pale offsetting
- the tissue guard of plate VI with a short tear below (3 cm.)
- occasional pale surface soiling and a fingerprints at the sheets' edges in places
- the colour of the paper in the cover has become grey-brown with time due to the glue and acid from the cardboard, as it is common (see Wittrock).
- the cover showing wear and scuffs, especially at the edges and spine, only one of the four silk ties left (in fragile condition)
