The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

In addition to or in elaboration of the catalogue entry:
- the full sheet, with a deckle edge at right
- the colours slightly attenuated in places
- pale light-staining and occasional pale time staining at the sheet edges
- some soft and unobtrusive handling creases in places, mainly in the lower margins and upper left margins
- a stray of printing ink in the lower margins
