The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The canvas, stretcher and attachments appear to be in generally good condition. The work is varnished and not lined. There are two varnish stains to the lower corners. The canvas undulates slightly and the two vertical stretcher bars are slight visible through the canvas. There are two minor losses, one to the left of glass, and another to the left cup. There is stable hairline craquelure in places, mainly in the lighter pigments. When examined under ultraviolet light, there appears to be no evidence of any retouching. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work appears to be in generally good condition.
