The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The canvas, stretcher and attachments appear to be in generally good condition. There are minor losses to the tip of the upper left corner and to the upper centre vertical edge. There is minor craquelure and associated losses mainly to the lower part of the black passage and to the upper part of the 'R'. There is a minor accretion to the extreme upper right corner. When examined under ultraviolet light, there appears to be no evidence of any retouching. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work appears to be in generally very good condition.
