The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The picture has not been examined out of its frame. The canvas is unlined. There are a few fine hairline tension cracks in the darker passages, most notably in the lower left and upper right quadrants. There is a horizontal area of slightly raised craquelure, extending approximately 30 cm. across the upper right quadrant. There are scattered minute flyspots, predominantly to the areas of white pigment. There is a minor abrasion in the lower right quadrant.
Examination under ultraviolet light does not reveal any apparent evidence of retouching.
