Apollo 8 astronauts relax at completion of successful emergency egress test from their spacecraft, rear in white room 320 feet above Launch Complex 39’s Pad A. Left-to-right unsuiting: Mission Commander, Frank Borman, Command Module Pilot James A. Lovell, Jr., and Lunar Module Pilot William A. Anders. Their spacecraft is mated to the first Saturn V launch vehicle which will be used for a manned space mission. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s mission is scheduled to be a lunar orbital flight.
